This is one of the first tunes I wrote – rock'n'roll!

This one required a female vocal. I co-wrote it with a friend called Mike Cooper. He had the idea for the melody in a dream – hence the title. I found myself in the same situation but my title was "shagger's heaven" and I forgot the tune.
Mike is an accomplished lyricist but I had to step in when I was washed away by a tide of schmaltz on the crest of a wave of slush. Sickening! We were both pleased with the result though.

This is one of the numbers I used to do with a Punk band that folded many moons ago. None of us could read music in those days so if a key member left the sound of the whole band would change. I thought that the main riff and vibe of the song was worth preserving. Mike Cooper on vocals.

I had a bass player called Mr Shin who hailed from South Korea. He loved thrash metal but couldn’t manage to play it (thankfully). The vocal on this tune is his first take for what he considered to be the intro on a thrash metal number (a la spinal tap). I captured this and built the rest of the track around it, much to his disgust. It is a traditional Korean song. The high parts of the vocal are the sad bits apparently. He got his revenge by opening an account using my details and doing a runner while in debt – cheeky bastard. That's the style – good luck to him.

This is a traditional Macedonian melody – I thought I could give it a bit of a darker vibe with some electricity, a bit of sitar and some slide.

This is one that was composed by a lecturer on a music course.
The title is a reference to its Turkish origins. It was done for big band, all a bit polite 'n' that.
The basic groove is in the bass line so a more primitive approach doesn’t detract. Unfortunately the drums pull one way and the guitars another, costs prevented a rerun. Maybe it shouldn't be on the website but I like it anyway.

This is one I did with a bloke called Graham who had written some tunes and wanted to form a band. I thought that with a bit of adjustment something could be made of it (and the next one, "Try"). It's about the end of a drunken night out and the moment of decision.

This is another one I did with Graham. A different mood – bluesish and a good excuse for some slide guitar, which I love.
